Nonogram FAQ
- What is a nonogram?
- A nonogram (also called picross or griddler) is a logic puzzle where you fill in cells in a grid to reveal a picture. Number clues along each row and column tell you how many consecutive filled cells appear in that line. No arithmetic — just logic and deduction.
- How do I solve a nonogram?
- Start with rows and columns where the clues leave little ambiguity — a clue of 5 in a 5-cell row must fill every cell. Mark cells you know are filled and use X to mark empties. Cross-reference rows and columns to narrow possibilities. Work from certainty outward.
- Is Free Nonograms free to play?
- Yes. No account, no payment, no ads blocking the puzzle. Play as many nonograms as you like.
- Can I play on mobile?
- Yes. Fully responsive — works on phones and tablets. Tap to fill cells, or use the toolbar to switch between fill and mark modes.
- What is the difference between nonograms and picross?
- Picross is Nintendo's branded name for nonogram puzzles. Other names include griddlers, hanjie, and paint by numbers. The rules are identical — nonogram is the generic term.
