Nonogram FAQ

What is a nonogram?
A nonogram (also called picross or griddler) is a logic puzzle where you fill in cells in a grid to reveal a picture. Number clues along each row and column tell you how many consecutive filled cells appear in that line. No arithmetic — just logic and deduction.
How do I solve a nonogram?
Start with rows and columns where the clues leave little ambiguity — a clue of 5 in a 5-cell row must fill every cell. Mark cells you know are filled and use X to mark empties. Cross-reference rows and columns to narrow possibilities. Work from certainty outward.
Is Free Nonograms free to play?
Yes. No account, no payment, no ads blocking the puzzle. Play as many nonograms as you like.
Can I play on mobile?
Yes. Fully responsive — works on phones and tablets. Tap to fill cells, or use the toolbar to switch between fill and mark modes.
What is the difference between nonograms and picross?
Picross is Nintendo's branded name for nonogram puzzles. Other names include griddlers, hanjie, and paint by numbers. The rules are identical — nonogram is the generic term.
